Although most of us celebrate dad year-round, Father’s Day is set aside for us to honor the man who gave us life and enjoy the day with other dads in our families and social circle. It’s a day to commemorate fatherhood and paternal bonds and enjoy festivities around food and fun. If an afternoon barbeque is on your Father’s Day itinerary, here’s an easy rib recipe that’s quick to grill and delicious. You can prep these ribs 3 days ahead of your bbq so when the day arrives, you have more time for mingling.
The key is to keep the menu simple, so you maximize the time with those who are important in your life instead of slaving over a hot grill. You can have the salads, slaws, and side dishes made ahead of time and put everything on the table a few minutes before mealtime.
INGREDIENTS:
1) 2 slabs of Spare Ribs
2) 1 beer or 2 cups of water
3) Your favorite dry rub
4) 4 cups of your favorite BBQ sauce
5) 21×13 disposable aluminum baking pan or a regular baking pan (if ribs are too big cut them in half)
STEPS
1) Remove membrane from ribs and then pat them dry using a paper towel
2) Rub the ribs with you favorite dry rub on both sides then refrigerate overnight
3) Preheat oven to 300 degrees
4) Place the ribs in the baking pan, add beer or water, cover tightly with aluminum foil and steam for 2-3 hours until ribs are tender
5) Remove the ribs from the oven and cool them down, then wrap them in plastic wrap until ready to use. They can keep in the refrigerator for 3 days.
6) When you are ready to BBQ remove the ribs from the refrigerator and brush them with your favorite BBQ sauce (you can also grill them dry without BBQ sauce)
7) Place your ribs on your BBQ at low heat adding more bbq sauce as needed
8) When your ribs are heated through you can turn up the heat and brown them a little. Remove them from the heat cut and serve
